Scraping the Barrel!
When I dived into my box of pastel papers/supports I realised I was scraping the barrel of my art supplies, and so this pastel started on a dark piece of blue La Carte sanded paper, my fixative is running low too, so it’s time to supply shop. Yep, I'm looking through my rose tinted glasses again!

On Saturday I headed off to a local art event, MainArt in Margotshöchheim, checking out local artists and the possibilities of exhibiting. It was interesting to mooch through the streets and fabulous inner courtyards of house owners who open up to let local artists exhibit. Franconian houses usually have no visible garden but a large high gated entrance opening up to an inner courtyard, inside you sometimes have gardens, barns or just a paved area. One of the attractions of MainArt is sneaking a peek at these private gardens, lots of the houses have been snatched up by architects who have done some amazing conversions. Now if that isn’t a painting just waiting to be done, I don’t know what is!
On the artistic side, there was everything from esoteric, through abstract to gothic art all accompanied by live music and a melting pot of food from local specialities to Arabic delicacies, with temperatures around the 30's finding a shady garden to hang around in was a must!
Here we are on one of the central areas of MainArt, along the banks of the Main river, I had a great afternoon with an unpleasant surprise at the end! My bike had a flat tire, there is a famous saying here in Germany, If you love your bike, you push it and I did, about 3kms, most of it up hill. I arrived home a ''hot mess'', unfortunately here hot is not in the sexy sense but in the 30C red faced and sweaty sense but as the saying goes you have to suffer for your art!
