Where the Streets Have No Name ........!

This street can't have a name because it doesn't exist, it is a "maison medley" of buildings that I saw on some of my travels last year.  Quirky burgher gothic style, which can be seen here in the north, mixed with half-timbered jewels from here in Oldenburg or from the Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria. Architectural details are really fascinating for me and in Hamburg and Bremen you can see the money and influence of the rich Hansa traders, lots of gold, diddly bits and ships are to be found on the historical buildings along with the high gables.

On my easel at the moment is another very quirky bit of architecture, Bamberg in Bavaria's "Alte
Rathaus". It is one of the famous Unesco heritage sites in Bamberg and a strange combination of
gothic, barock and half-timbered. Covered in murals from 1755 that also include 3D elements, it was one of the first buildings I saw and fell in love with in Germany.

The bulding is on an island on the river Regnitz, which legend says was built by the canny citizens of Bamberg when the bishop refused to hand over land on which to build a town hall. On the right of the picture is the half-timbered building used to house the guard and the tower and the building on the left are richly decorated with rococo/barock elements and murals. Featured in the film the Three Musketeers with Orlando Bloom, the hollywood directors created a scandal in Bamberg by wanting to paint over the historic murals on the Unesco protected building!

Here we've got a side view, it is strange isn't it?
What about you, if you were putting your street together, how would it look? And what about a name? Clarty Street doesn't sound too good does it? My street will have to remain nameless!
