We've Come A Long, Long Way!

Do you remember my ''pilgrimage''? At the beginning of June, I decided to walk the 800 kilometres of the St James Way to Santiago de Compostela, unfortunately not in Spain but here in Germany. I started sketching the way too and reading about all of the sights I would have seen on my way. Due to our house hunting my sketching fell by the wayside, the kilometres didn’t! This was a building in Estella at the 100k mark and one of my last sketches.

Soooo, you are asking yourself, where are we now? Well, I'm into the last hundred, at around 720K but then on 1 January 2022 this happened ….

I woke up on New Year's Day with a ''gammy knee'', it hurt so much that I couldn’t even stand on it for a week, it wobbled and buckled and now although I can walk on it, it’s agony. Have I been to the doctors? Nope, too frightened of something being drastically wrong, so I'm slapping rubbing cream on it and bandaging it but progress is slow and thoughts of ballet or even standing at the easel are painful.
2022, you're supposed to be an improvement on 2020 and 2021, so far you’re a non-starter, come on I need to get that 800K up and what then? Well, apart from my gammy leg, I've found walking so good for my equilibrium that I've decided to hang on the other 2050K which would mean I've walked the whole way from Würzburg to Santiago de Compostela but first things first, the gammy leg has got to go! I tried taking a good stiff G&T internally but although it improved my mood it hasn’t helped my knee …. yet!
