Still in Tobago!

Tobago is now done and dusted and here we are, the finished sketchbook page!

We met with so many lovely locals, Cutty who carved my daughter's souvenir cat (she collected cats from all our travels) and Mario who was a drummer in the band ''The Drummers of Tomorrow'' in our hotel!
In the middle of my sketchbook page you can see my husband holding a huge eel! I was lying on the beach surrounded by our dog gang (that’s Champy an oddly shaped Heinz 57 Variety dog who liked to chill with me and kept away local vendors by growling when they came near.) when I heard my husband calling me from the sea. He'd been off snorkelling for some time and kept calling me, listening more carefully I understood ''Get me a bucket!'', I didn’t have a clue why, but I went off in search of a pail. I returned with a standard bucket and waded in to bring it to him…….. at this point he stood up and I could see he was holding a huge big Conger Eel! Well, there was no way that honking big Eel was going to fit in my pail! The locals were all watching in amazement, they are really frightened of eels and were horrified at the sight of it, I backed off in fright and headed off to find a more substantial receptacle. Eventually one of the local bars gave me a huge (clean) rubbish bin and I hit the beach with a bucket big enough to get the eel into. While snorkelling my husband had noticed it behaving somewhat oddly and decided it needed some help; the recovery time in cool water in the bin did it a power of good and as he was going on a night scuba dive, the eel was returned to the sea at night and swam away. After that my husband was known as ''the Eel Man''!

When zooming around the island locals when seeing a car would always point in the direction they thought you wanted to go, obviously so used to tourists heading to the sights, so that’s why the fingers are there! And the Fifa bib is a reminder of a group of Fifa Referees staying in our hotel for a football tournament, still in their kit they used to dance to Sharon, a local singer, giving it laldy, as we would say in Scotland! (Singing with great energy and enthusiasm) while they pogoed, waving their napkins at the same time. Memories, memories!
