Rushing Towards the Winter Solstice
The days are so short and the periods of darkness longer, with our grotty weather sometimes the whole day is dark, time to try something dramatic with light! A bit of ''contre jour'', this literally means against the day, or back lit. A scene plays out in darker tones contrasting with the extreme light in the background.

I'm going to try to keep everything very dark with a path of light pulling us into an extremely light spot in the background.
It’s one of my favourite views on our local canal and on the way back from ballet I peeked through the trees and saw this carpet of Autumn leaves on the surface of the water, lit from the sun in the background. They looked a bit like molten lava, or molten metal floating on the water, an amazing sight, and a little highlight on an otherwise very dark day!
