Winter Entanglement

This one has been taking soooooo very long, and although it’s off the easel now it needs to ''mature'' on me.

Winter Entanglement
36cm x 80cm

At the moment I'm calling it done but I'm not sure that the two bottom corners will stay like that, does the sand colour of my support distract from the wintery feeling or does the winter landscape grow organically out of it. That is the rub, to leave or not to leave,
So you can get an idea of just how many colours are involved in this ‚‘neutral' palette, here's the close up!

This fabulous knot of branches coated with lichen and sprinkled with snow caught my eye first, plus the sprinkling of snowberries, contrasted against the rich brown of the surrounding scrub.
These panoramic paintings ''Soul Seeking Sanctuary'' and now ''Winter Entanglement'' convey (I hope) the feeling of walking through undergrowth and being taken by surprise by an unexpected scene; no one has been there before, virgin territory, a hidden secret, magical liminality, a place between two worlds.
In uncertain times, perhaps it’s better to seek cover and observe what's going on from a secluded place of safety, what's even nicer, you don’t even have to wear a mask. You can breathe in and out without your glasses steaming up ........... paradise!
