If you Knew …..

One of my Mum's favourite saying was ''If you knew how stupid you look you wouldn’t do that! I think this applies to the slimy guy taking photos of his Asian ''muse'' at the botanical garden when I was Urban sketching a couple of Sundays ago. I like quirky situations and decided to celebrate the sleazy encounter with a sketchbook page. 

Of course our Patrick Lichfield had a better camera as the old one that I sketched but I found the old Olympus fun and challenging. An even bigger challenge was the figure of our photographer, I don’t really do figures but I set out to capture the encounter! 

Figures frighten me and as I was working from my photos I really could have started some measured drawings but I wanted a spontaneous feel, with the poses of the photographer, giving a feeling of movement and ''action''.

One tip when sketching figures is not too make the heads to large and to be honest I'm very happy with the results.  

I didn’t focus our sexy model too much because I really couldn’t see her that well in my photos, so it’s just a perky shadow in thigh highs. 

And there we are at the ''if you knew how stupid you looked, you wouldn’t do that'' stage, our photographer decided that his model wasn’t looking sexy enough so he posed for her. Putting on this best trout pout, he licked his lips lasciviously and stuck out his (rather less perky) behind and I heard my mum whispering in my ear ''If you knew ……!"
