Monet, Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey and Britney Spears

An illustrious list of artists indeed, what I hear you say? Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey and Britney, artists? Yes, indeed, they have discovered their artistic talent and are presenting it in videos, documentaries, interviews and on social media.

What with so many medical disasters going on in my family, I need to let off some steam, and all these stars turned artists are really getting on my wick! Don't get me wrong, I think being creative does everybody good, regardless of whether it's music, poetry or art, go for it! But don't sound off about it, Jim Carrey's video of himself working, shows somebody obviously wrestling his demons, (which considering some of the very nasty stuff that has come out about him, he needs to do) fine, keep it private. Britney Spears, posed ''plein air'' surrounded by ivy in a tight push up bra of white satin, got 4 million views, however I don't think it was down to the cute little pink floral designs on her artistically positioned canvas, and then there's Brad........! 

Don't get me wrong Brad seems an OK guy, his thighs in Troy really impressed me, but in his first GQ interview since his break up (issue from 03.05.2017) he was talking about becoming a  ''studio rat'' (?) and working in his friend Thomas Houseago’s studio, who is a sculptor. Brad, sipping on mate tea (because of course as well as being an artist, he is also a reformed man), says he’s been squatting there on the studio floorboards, doing 17 hour shifts in the studio and even more worryingly  I quote “taking a shit on their sanctity”. Oh God! No Brad, not literally I hope. Although that may explain some of the strange poses and odd clothing in the series of accompanying photos by Ryan McGinley; Brad Pitt, squatting in Armani and Zegna, you do have to feel sorry for the chap!

 Talking about his art he says he is '' making stuff .........'', and ''there is a lot of manual labour, a lot of lugging clay around, chopping, moving and cleaning'' ........ ahm yes, aaaaaand?.......... No photos of the fruit of his labours, it reminds me a bit of the Emperor's New Clothes really. The saddest part is his works will get air time, and lots of it! There will be galleries and art collectors, speculating on his works, fawning over him and buying his first piece ''Separation''. Sour grapes I hear you say! Not really, but both Brad and Jim are actors, and this artist thing comes across as playing to the audience and trying to improve their rather tainted public image. Secondly, these stars have had a lot of privileges that young struggling artists haven't had, Brad doesn't have to worry about paying the rent while finding time to paint, he has had everything including Angelina Jolie and a vast vineyard. Personally, given the choice I‘d have opted for the vineyard. 

Interestingly in a discussion about Brad's art, one man said that Brad knows his art because he has bought a vast collection of it, indeed, I have bought a lot of training shoes, but they didn't turn me into Usain Bolt, and herewith I rest my case.
