Nautical But Nice!

Yesss, today something nautical but nice! My new painting, all framed and scrubbed up in a nautical frame.

Taking  photos in frames is tricky and that little stripey wonk on the horizon is me! But still I think “Splashing onto Tropical Shallows” is looking ship shape!
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (I'll bet that proverb doesn't stick around much longer, it’s not very PC!) so keeping up the nautical theme we headed off  to Bremen with friends to a beer-tasting on the Becks flagship “Alexander von Humboldt”.

The Alex as it is affectionately called, is anchored on the “Schlachte” and has been a restaurant/ hotel for about 2 years. The original ship was launched in 1906 as a light vessel working mainly on the Baltic shores, in 1988 she was overhauled and converted into a tall ship. The Alex became well-known all over the world, as the ship with the iconic green sails in the Becks beer ads; used as a sail training ship, she navigated the world, clocking up about 300,000 nautical miles. Now she sits peacefully in Bremen where you can sit on the deck looking out over the Weser and sip a cold beer, without the danger of sea sickness or trying to find your sea legs. Having sampled at least 4 different types of Becks (which of course comes from Bremen) and a great three course meal, getting back off the Alex did feel like rolling decks on the high sea! Land Ahoi!
