Live and Let …. Live!
Here we are my James Bond page is finished! Yey! (See my previous post, What James Bond Taught Me)

Suave sophistication is something I really do associate with James Bond, stunningly tailored suits, sparkling white shirts and cufflinks are de rigueur …. and believe me I know hand tailoring when I see it (in Skyfall James has his back to you and you can see that the back seam of his suit is hand stitched, wow! I nearly cried) Even ZZ Top knew there's nothing sexier than a sharp dressed man! My GP in Scotland was in his late sixties and was always immaculate, white starched shirt, dark suit and silver cufflinks, OK he wasn’t sexy but impressive and very professional and I was hooked on sharp dressed men. I love that little hand movement in my sketch, straightening a tie ….. ready for action. However, even a smooth man like James makes sartorial mistakes ….. that terrible ''play suit'' (terrible name, makes me squirm) we would probably call it a onsie, eye-wateringly short and baby blue towelling!
Sorry Sean, not even you can wear a baby blue, fuzzy, short onesie and make it look cool. Clothes make the man and that play suit in Goldfinger was a no go! But hey, live and let live.
No Bond film is complete without some kind of exotic sports, as a teen the scuba scenes really impressed me, apart from the ubiquitous sharks! Sharks turn up as weapons in quite a few Bond films, my first ''Live and Let Die'' for example and yes, while diving bull sharks like this one turned up out of the blue, just as they do in the Bond diving scenes!
Just as nobody can pull off a short, blue, fluffy onesie, neoprene diving suits just aren’t sexy. How do I know? The proof of the pudding? In the wearing!
I love the witty repartee of the Bond films, unfortunately when you are watching in German the double entendres really are lost in translation. Believe me when you’re squashed into a stinky neoprene diving suit (that hundreds of others have probably peed in before, urine helps to keep you warm!) you really need a large portion of self-irony and a sense of humour and 007 certainly taught me that.
Thank you James and Ian Fleming, you taught me so much!
