Up, Up and Away!

After the frustrations of my first ''hill work'' and rubbing back a huge area of the painting, Up, Up and Away is finished! The relief is really palpable and here it is!

Up, Up and Away!

And now the ''before''  ….. the blobby, too fussy tree wiped away.

Let take peek at what’s changed.
The tree has ''grown'' and the composition has tightened to get rid of the ugly tree top right. Another change has been a pop of purple as the palette felt too drab and natural, the painting needed some zing; purple is of course the complementary colour  to yellow and complementary colours pop!
I feel that you get the feeling of hilly ground and that swooshy curve of foliage pulls the eye into the branches of the ''diva'' tree. So mission accomplished, hills tackled …….maybe the change of landscape is going to be refreshing.
I'm enjoying going rambling through the vineyards and hillsides although the weather has been all but enchanting. Yesterday I headed off to a local chapel which sits atop a promontory looking down to my hometown below. Tradition requires you to ring the bell so it can be heard in the town below, I had been up before but hadn’t realised the bell pull was inside the chapel but yesterday was the day! Here is the entrance ……. ! Ding, dong!
