Happy Easter!

Enjoying some fabulous Easter weather today, supposed to be the best Easter weather for 30 years! Traditionally we spent Easter with friends and the traditional Easter bonfire here in Northern Germany (we even let off fireworks). ''Osterfeuer'', the Easter bonfire is a celebration of the end of winter and I have only experienced since moving up North. The Easter Bunny turns up too and hides eggs all over the place, here he is taking a peek at my sketchbook.

I had this fabulous bunch of tulips which lasted for about a week, and I really enjoyed exploring the blooms, first in pencil and then in watercolour.

Tulips are fascinating flowers, in the 16th century in the Netherlands they were more valuable than gold, the legendary ''Semper Augustus'', the red and white holy grail of tulips, was worth the price of a nice house.
At home in Scotland we always got new clothes for Easter, made hard boiled eggs, painted them and rolled them down grassy hills for what seemed like hours before they broke and you were allowed to eat them. Sometimes accelerating the process by chucking them sneakily at stones!
However you spend your Easter, and whatever traditions you follow, enjoy! The diet starts tomorrow, as always!
