Are My Nuts the Right Colour?

At the moment I'm asking myself the one question that has troubled artists for centuries, Are my nuts the right colour? You haven’t had this problem? Well, you just got lucky! I don’t know why I find capturing nuts tricky but the creamy colour of the kernel and all of those nut browns stump me every time.
And here we go, 100 Shades of Autumn 2022! Autumn is such a show off with all of those stunning hues, isn’t she?

And yes, those are my nuts! I'm deluged in walnuts and apples and there seems no end in sight!

Even my nuts seem to have turned out well, what a pleasant surprise, rose hips are less of a pleasant surprise!
I remember someone putting them down the back of my school uniform at the bus stop, they were incredibly itchy and to be honest I really didn’t know at the time what had caused the itching. Even worse with wearing a shirt and tie as school uniform it wasn’t so easy to scratch. I spent all day squirming and scratching till I got home and took my uniform off!
I really enjoyed playing with these colours and letting the watercolour do what it wants instead of trying to ''draw'' with it, and playing with the reflective shadows was fun too, a lot more fun than rose-hip itching powder, although my skin ended up as red as those leaves!
Ah, the good old days, bet children nowadays don’t know about itching powder, probably too busy taking pouty selfies …… although looking at some of those selfies can be as painful as itching powder. This week my Instagram feed is full of people crying in cars, why? Can’t you cry at home? Or in the bathroom….. you seriously sit in your car and snivel into your mobile for likes? I think I'd rather have a session with the rose-hips or reflecting on the colour of my nuts, now that really is something to cry about.
