Urban Sketching and Soaking up the Sun!

So today was my third time out sketching with the Urban Sketchers Unterfranken/Würzburg and today we were at the Kunstspeicher, an old granary building from the start of the 1900's and that now houses an art museum. I also popped in to the Art Supermarket of the BBK, a kind of affordable Art Fair.
We were a lovely group of 8 women, enjoying the last rays of Autumn, it was so warm I had to take my jacket off!

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, maybe I chatted too much to my neighbour who was also doing a great job of sketching this wharf building and the old crane used to heave the grain from the ships into the granary.
There was a river cruise boat anchored on the quay and guests were enjoying playing shuffleboard in the sun. I have to confess sitting looking at this view as exciting as it was to sketch, is not my idea of a great afternoon on a river cruise, although Würzburg is a fascinating city.

Not only is the Kulturspeicher interesting from the outside but check it out from inside! This fabulous interior reminds me so much of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Glasgow School of Art building which has burnt down to the ground in two fires and where I was lucky enough to do my art degree! It felt so familiar…..like coming  home.
