Those Winter Blues!
Soooo, time for another pastel painting this week. Those Winter Blues 50cm x 50cm Sometimes paintings can be a struggle, or you have areas that you are just not happy with, this one was a doddle. I loved using those zingy blues and turquoises then contrasted against the white. Pastel artists tend to avoid using pure white however, what looks like "pure" white in my paintings isn't in fact. I have a set of pales made by Unison, they are very pale blues, beiges, yellows and pinks, barely there hues which often look white in photos, but this time there is some blingy white in there. Actually, I had expected the world to look like this this morning, we've had freezing Scandinavian winds for days, I don't think the winter is over here yet. As for having winter blues, yep I haven't managed to shake them off yet. I find the blues in my painting so vibrant that they are definitely positive, so I'm calling my personal "blues" the greys.
