Going to the Chapel, Not Going to Get Married

I really wanted to do a long post today but a culinary battle with a lobster bisque, all the Megxit and a party last night tells me, next time!

This is wee sketch of a church in Gundelsheim in Franconia where my in laws live. Funny that I've walked past it probably hundreds of times without noticing how odd it is! Here a piccy without sketch!

It was a crisp and very chilly morning when I decided to sketch and while at work I realised there is nothing symmetrical about the facade, a church door that isn’t central,  a squiffy window and an odd off centre tower. Hmmmm what was going on here? I checked the local town chronicles and discovered that the whole thing started as a neo-gothic church with a tall (If untypical) steeple for Franconia, built in the late 1900's. As the village grew the church changed shape several times to accommodate the growing parish, finally changing to a Protestant church in the 50's.
Funny that you can look at something so often without really ''seeing'' it, that really makes the difference when sketching, drawing what you really see and not what you think is there. A good example of how blind you become to things you see every day is to close your eyes and ask yourself about your watch ..... ''Has it got numerals? A second hand? What colour is the face? Roman numerals perhaps? Are the seconds marked or just the fives?'' How good were you?
Sketching in about 3C was chilly and resulted in drying problems, my watercolour stayed very wet ...... out in the cold. A little like Meghan Markle perhaps, wow! I'm waiting for the SussexRoyal art equipment to come out with H&M monogramme ....... can’t wait, wondering if the royal family are regretting the celebrations in the St George's chapel, Windsor. How do I see the situation? Sorry folks, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you’re not happy then by all means go and live the lives you want to but pay for it ...... you don’t want the responsibilities fine but then you can’t market bedding and curtains with your royal title.
Windsor, American and Duchess, having a bit of a déjà vu here. Speaking of which, this sketch will appear again because I wanted to take this page further and maybe with a wedding!
