Medieval Mayhem!
Sorry, I'm a day late but yesterday I had internet problems and of course I've got visitors at the moment, so art has come to a standstill! Yesterday we visited a medieval afternoon at the famous Marienberg fortress, imposing and forbidding, it stands a top a hill looking down over Würzburg. There’s been settlement here since the Bronze age and the first castle was from the 8th Century. What you can visit today is a huge fortress with parts dating back to the 13th C and later additions. Funny, I was here about 25 years ago but I didn’t remember it looking like this and it really was Medieval mayhem with loads of kids and pushchairs but as you could visit the museum too, it was a nice day out.

So, here’s a wee sketch of a tower that I saw on my travels in Northern Germany, it looked a wee bit like something Rapunzel would have lived in! It was drawn while sitting outside in the rain with temperatures of about 5C but the details were amazing and I got lost in all the turrets and arched windows. So, I'm signing off for today my guests need their breakfast!
